IoT on Microsoft Ignite, March 2021

Although 2021 seems to be a copy of 2021, the Microsoft Ignite has brought us a lot of possitive new ragarting new Microsoft technology we can all wait for. Or even better, it’s available right now.

The biggest Azure IoT on the current Ignite is Azure Percept:

a comprehensive, easy-to-use platform with added security for creating responsible edge AI solutions. With Azure Percept, we have simplified AI on the edge from silicon to service

Documentation can be found here. The dedicated hardeware (Azure Percept DK is designed as a reference implementation) can be found here. (Datasheet DK | Datasheet Vision) (Availability around the world)

But there were also smaller gems. On of them is “30 days to learn it“. You can complete the IoT Developer challenge and get 50 percent off the cost of a Microsoft Certification:

Implement and maintain the cloud and edge components of an IoT solution. Learn how to connect devices, move workloads to the edge, and build scalable, enterprise-grade, secured IoT solutions on Azure to increase performance, reduce costs, and optimize operations. It’ll only take about 15 hours to discover how to securely connect IoT devices to the cloud, build the intelligent edge, and develop solutions with Azure IoT Central.

There are more certificates to earn. See the site for all eight challenges!

All sessions are available now in the session catalog for you to watch. Below, I summerized all IoT related sessions.

Upgrading your Azure IoT Edge device remotely to the latest release

Last week, the Microsoft Ignite event was hosted in Orlando. As with every Microsoft Event, a lot of new stuff is released by the Microsoft product teams.

The same goes for the IoT Edge runtime, the portal and the logic running on IoT Edge.

The IoT Edge runtime bumped up to version 1.0.2 and there are lots of new features introduced like extended offline operation and proxy support.

And there a lot of bugfixes which is always good 🙂

But the documentation considering the update of your gateways is a bit limited.

If I follow the update procedure, I have to update it on the machine itself.

Let’s check out how we update our runtime remotely.

Update: Microsoft released this document with more details after I wrote this blog. Some parts could be out-dated by now.

IoT at Microsoft Ignite 2017

The Microsoft Ignite just finished and what show it was again!

The Microsoft Ignite was held in Orlando and it’s a great event for Enterprise developers and IT Pros.

But if you are IoT minded like me, it’s also a great event regarding Windows 10 IoT and azure IoT.

And the best news is, a lot of break-out sessions are recorded and available already.

I counted 50+ Breakout sessions, Hands-on labs, Meetups, Microsoft Cloud Show en even a Cert Exam Prep. And there is also an Ignite channel on youtube.

Here are the videos and slides of sessions which are already available (or are available soon, only a teaser is shown on the page)
